During training as a graphic artist for a career in advertising I developed an interest in printmaking through lithography and, more importantly, lino cutting. After a career in mainstream advertising I have been able to revisit this medium and for the last ten years I have been experimenting with various forms of relief printing and intaglio. Some of the sources I use in my work relate to those very early days when an interest in unusual landscape, that is landscape that is dramatised by human activity figured in my work. Other influences come from a professional career in Europe where I spent some leisure time visiting the major art galleries seeing at first hand the influential works of the 20th century. I have a firm belief that poetic content is inherent in good artwork in both the abstract and figurative forms
